McDevitt, Paul
Paul McDevitt seems to suggest a lost or undiscovered world in his intricate pencil drawings. Much of his imagery derives from 1950s cultural magazines as well as his own photographs. He is fascinated by disposable visual culture, notably the anonymous graphic design found in old magazines as well as street graffiti. He fuses these graphic images with elements of architecture and deserted landscapes. Cosmic scenes are also part of his vision, bringing to mind both 1960s psychedelic culture and 1990s rave music.
