Leonora (The Joker)

2006
Skaer, Lucy
Lucy Skaer’s work explores time, mortality, photographic imagery, history and chaos and includes drawing, painting and, increasingly, sculpture. Skaer describes her work as "something to do with where those materials originally came from, and how they came to be associated with British antique furniture, all these tropical hardwoods and Pacific mother-of-pearl shell. I wanted the table to reflect the tyrannical stages of early colonialism".
