Curators' Days

Arts Council Collection: Curators' Days

The Arts Council Collection organises six events for UK-based curators each year.  Designed as an informal forum for networking, learning and sharing, the events bring together curators from galleries across the country and are organised in collaboration with Art Fund.

Each event has a special focus, either looking at particular areas of professional practice or visiting major exhibitions with talks from artists, curators and specialists on a range of topics.

Past events have included visits to Folkestone Triennial, Artes Mundi, The British Art Show and Glasgow International, and topics covered have included exhibition publishing, art and dementia, art writing and engaging families in galleries. Read more about past Curators’ Days in our blogs Engaging Families, Towards Civic Engagement or watch our interviews from the Venice Curators’ Day.

Our Curators’ Days are free, however places are limited and priority will be given to curators or those working with Collections in museums, galleries and historic buildings in the UK. Please note: this year you can only register interest for one place per email address, per event.

Please note that the Arts Council Collection is not able to support travel or accommodation, although refreshments and a light lunch will be provided. If you require support for travel and other practical costs you may be eligible for Art Fund’s Jonathan Ruffer Curatorial Grants. Curators can apply for costs associated with multiple trips and a quick turnaround on decisions will be made. Demands on funds are high and priority will be given to curators working directly with collections. To discuss an application contact Emma Coleman, Programmes Manager, Art Fund.

For general enquiries regarding Curators' Days please contact Grace Beaumont, Acquisitions Coordinator, Arts Council Collection.
