The Breakwater

Fitton, James
A prolific graphic designer, James Fitton designed posters for London Transport and the Ministry of Food, as well as for films, advertisements and numerous illustrations for 'The Left Review'. They all demonstrate a gritty realism and a strong sense of design. Fitton's paintings are essentially descriptive comments on contemporary life. The seaside was a favourite subject and he sketched beach scenes along the Cornwall, Devon, Kent and Norfolk coasts.
