North

1990
Wilson, Chris
'North' is one of a series of works Chris Wilson made using Belfast city street maps in order to explore notions of location and interior space. He writes: 'I was drawn to the idea of creating a particular interior space from the larger city environment. From sketches done in real churches I would create in my studio a more personal space where I could manipulate the perspective… the map allowed several things to happen, including the juxtaposition of interior/exterior, light/dark, the local environment and the wider universal environment.'
