Untitled (from London Portfolio)

1992
Hirst, Damien
'London' is a portfolio of eleven prints by eleven artists, commissioned by Charles Booth-Clibborn in 1992 and intended as a portable exhibition of emerging artists. Damien Hirst's contribution to this portfolio was his work, 'Untitled', 1992 - a screenprint, detailing photographic images of rocks against a pink background in a grid formation. Hirst bought the stones on the Kings Road in London and placed them onto a piece of pink paper, arranging them in the way that resembles an illustration from a geography text book. The print has been partially varnished and the images of rocks remain matt; the contrasting finishes highlight the objects for study. Steven Burridge
