Ordination

2017
Krishanu, Matthew
Matthew Krishanu’s subject matter is usually autobiographical, set in places with which he has a close connection. His most recent paintings centre on two boys (the artist and his brother) growing up in Bangladesh – and their experience of a complex world that includes expatriates, missionaries, and expansive landscapes. Ordination (2017) is a painting based on a family photograph taken in the 1980s of the artist’s father ordaining a new priest in a church in Bangladesh.
